Thanksgiving 2012

Had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. Hope everyone else did. Will add pictures later or to facebook.

Spending time with family!

Today is beautiful and clear the temp is at 90 and feeling wonderful we received some much needed rain for the area. It doesn't get much better than this! Spent the evening with Brandon and Megan eating and catching up with each others lives.

Hive Beetle Traps

They are doing great it's killing all our beetle's and we are looking good.
I would highly recommend getting a beetle trap bottom, if you need help let me know.

I started keeping bees in 2008 while building a house in Van TX. I wouldn't recommend it while building a house, the first hive swarmed and while we gave it our best shot, we still didn't know what we were doing.

So we decided to wait until we finished the house before trying again.

This summer we started 5 hives, one we had to requeen, and we are in the process of

waiting to see how the new hive will accept their new queen, we are about 2weeks into this process, and so far so good.

We also have a beetle infectation in out strongest hive, and have the beetle bottoms that Linda spoke about in her blog.

What are others doing to get rid of these pest.

HELP!!!!!!

Any information will help, what do you do when harvesting the honey, or do you wait until the beetles are gone and only havest honey in the new soupers added afterwards?

Thanks for any information that will help us with this problem.
